When you are going to be a candidate for the people, then you better know the issues they are
concerned about.
The budget crisis in Harrisburg, pending budget crises at local levels and viewing indicators of
struggling families such as page after page of property tax delinquencies and increased needs for
social services are among the issues that motivated me to get off the couch and run to represent
the citizens of the 113th legislative district.
I first want to state that I do not have any ties to any political interest groups, except one and that
is to the people of the 113th district. I am a straightforward, honest, middle class citizen who wants
to represent the tax payer without bias. I believe in a balanced state budget. I believe in
consolidating state services to reduce overhead costs and wasteful spending. I believe in Bill
1275, which has great potential by looking at a state sales tax expansion to eliminate the school
property tax. I am for transparency and would work to replace legislator's "walking around money"
with a competitive and open grant program.
Being an Eagle Scout, I will bring character, values and integrity to the office. I have been in public
service for the last 11 years through my employment. Not once have I forgotten or left behind the
people I represent. I will fight for what is right.
The state is in crisis now because of the lack of legislation to mandate and hold accountable the
legislators for not having an acceptable budget. The law allowed for a stop gap budget which only
took away the urgency from legislators to work on a budget. If elected to serve, I want to first draw
up legislation that if a budget is not passed in the time specified by law, I would mandate that
legislators be sequestered. Pay and per diems be frozen until an acceptable budget is passed.
Legislator’s main responsibility is to assure the constituents their tax dollars are being spent
prudently. If they cannot fulfill that obligation, then they should be held accountable just like any
working citizen. Our Commonwealth just passed a budget of $27.9 billion. With the passing of this
budget, a key issue arose. That which being the lack of insight into future funding deficits.
This budget exhausted the entire rainy day fund and relies on a one time unsustainable plug from
the Federal Stimulus fund. We need legislation that would annually supplement the rainy day fund
and sustain programs that are essential to the commonwealth.
So please stand behind me and let's change the way of Harrisburg.  I invite you to share your
comments and views, your thoughts and foresight on what we can do to make Harrisburg better
for the people.
