About Mike
Mike LaPolla, a North Scranton resident, has been a Boy Scouts of America District Executive
since 1998.  He has served the Boy Scouts in Colorado, Ohio and, for the past 6 years, in
Northeast Pennsylvania serving Lackawanna and Wyoming Counties.
As a Boy Scout District Executive, some of the responsibilities Mike has are: marketing, service
activities, training and managing over 2000 adult and youth Scouters.  He has been personally
accountable for raising and budgeting over $100,000 annually. 
Mike is an enthusiastic advocate for young people.  He is a member of the Johnson College
community advisory committee for the Perkins and 101 Acts.  The Perkins Act is a federal
program designed to support career and technical education with programs including such
support as tutoring, supplemental instruction, counseling and academic advising.   Act 101
programs provide support services to educationally and economically disadvantaged students. 
He also serves as an executive board member for Lackawanna County's Workforce Investment
Board Youth Council.
Mike is an Eagle Scout and member of the National Eagle Scout Association, an executive
board member and Paul Harris Fellow with the North Scranton Rotary Club, a volunteer for
summer lunch program, active member of UNICO, Scranton Chapter,  member of Power
Scranton and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Mike married the former Jackie Tigue, a lifetime resident of Scranton, in 2007.  He and Jackie
have recently been blessed with their first child, Jack Michael LaPolla.  Mike grew up in Warren,
Ohio and graduated from Kent State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree
in Political Science.
